In 2013 the interim American president of Capilano University, Kris Bulcroft, began 4 years of unilateral cuts to programs. Fortunately with the help of the late union activist Ed Lavalle, I came to understand our faculty leadership had offered up the Studio Art and Textiles Programs to Bulcroft to protect other disciplines from cuts. I made this ventriloquist dummy entitled Blathering On in Krisendom of the president and her poodle to expose the multitude of injustices that took place. This sculpture is still censored from Capilano University but it is now part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Vancouver. .  .

He then bought the Kinder Morgan Pipeline to expand oil production from the Athabasca tar sands until 2030 and beyond. This took place at a time when the International Panel on Climate Change was demanding world leaders stop new oil and gas infrastructure. This was my first activist piece that portrays the PM in his role as an armature boxer, challenging Indigenous nations and environmentalists with false claims he could expand oil production and meet climate targets.

Notley, Knot Another Pipeline is designed to be carried at Indigenous led events in defiance of the Federal Government's indifference to its responsibility to receive free, prior and informed consent from Indigenous nations prior to construction of mega-projects such as the Trans Mountain Expansion Project. It also refers to its denial of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People. This work includes engraved text referring to extravagant spending of public money on the TMX Pipeline; $34 billion (as of March 2024).
